Off we go to Atlanta, Mandi and I, for the
Americas Mart, Gift and Home Decor Show

Our first stop was
Willy's for lunch, up here we call them '
Moes'. We opted to eat outside since it was in the 70's (Jan. 18).

The most awesome thing about the trip is that our
son Zach lives in Atlanta, which gives us a place to stay and he acts as our chauffer for the show! Of course he takes us to different restaurants, which is our next favorite thing about Atlanta.

That evening we ate at
The Treehouse. We like to pick the unusual restaurants and the city is full of them! We basically were eating on (what seemed like) the deck of a house with a tree growing thru the roof. The menu and food was great. My ears were still plugged from the flight. Does anyone know a cure for that?

We then decided to take in a movie and settled on
The Impossible, if you haven't seen it (you should), it's based on a true story of a family during the big Tsunami. Such a good movie but we think it should be called The Miracle. This photo was taken at the theater, my son thought there might be some similarities, he keeps things pretty lively.

Saturday and Sunday we go to the show downtown, which is impossible to describe. There are 3 buildings, having 13, 17 and 20 floors. Each floor has many showrooms and each showroom represents many companies. So we only begin to see the show in 2 days. It's kind of overwhelming even on our 3rd visit.

This is a view from one of the buildings which shows the bridges that we cross to go to another building.

The 3rd building is especially unique in that the middle is open. This photo shows the elevator for the stories in picture below. One problem is all the time spent waiting on an elevator, with the thousands of people in attendance.

Each section you see is a different showroom. We ate on the 2nd level for lunch and would you believe I saw someone I recoginzed? It was a friend of my son's, which is kind of unbelieveble.

Badges on...
ready to shop...mom and daughter.

Just a couple pictures of interiors of 2 of the
showrooms. Photography is not allowed most places.

This area had some great items that we ordered. Of course coming from California, we had to watch sizes and weights.
Sunday morning was warm enough to sit on the deck before church and have devotions. My newest favorite devotional is Jesus Calling by Sarah Young.

When we visit Atlanta we love to visit the churches there. This one is
Passion City Church, only a couple of years old, but Louie Giglio is the paster (recently asked to give the inaugeration prayer) and Chris Tomlin is the worship pastor. The above shows all the people ready to load the transport to take them back to their cars. The attendance is so high that people park miles away to get there.

A new experience for us was to ride the Marta, not by choice but because my son's truck was having problems. It's a public transportation/subway that took us downtown for more shopping in the afternoon.

Flowers in January- a highlight! Two years ago when we were down for the January show is when they had their big ice storm that paralyzed the city. So it's not always so nice.

I could spend my whole time just driving around looking at the architecture and landscaping. It's all beautiful hills with lots of trees, landscaping and gourgeous homes.
Night time is especially pretty with all the lights. Sunday night is our last evening, we order in Jetts Pizza, watch the football game (for Zach) watch a movie and Monday morning we fly back to Indy, after a short delay in Atlanta because the emergency door had flown off the plane and they were fixing it while we waited. Nothing like adding some fear. We drove home to good ole Decatur and now we wait for all the goodies to arrive.
